Yes, the title is correct. This is a ‘mini’ session, meaning the session was only 30 minutes in length. And yes, that’s the family pictured below with 21 (twenty.one) smiling faces. I don’t typically work with this large of a group in such a short time frame but this gathering of families from as far as Florida was a moment I wanted to help them capture. I arrived on this extra chilly and windy afternoon to catch them just before their Christmas meal. They managed to look completely content through their cold chills and hunger pangs for lots of loving photos. Happy Holidays everyone!

Renee
To describe Renee in a word: genuine. If something is funny – she laughs. If someone is in need – she longs to help. If she sees beauty – she declares it…then paints it. I believe her heart is heavy because it’s made of gold. I had the pleasure to do not one, but two shoots with Renee. The first was a casual shoot at my studio. The second was the following day in an old abandoned building near my house. I paired her classic beauty with a fur coat, a hat and some fiery red lips.

Angela {mini}
Meet Angela M. Carter, mother, wife, friend, poet. I recently met Angela at my studio for some headshots for her new book. However when I saw the way her red dress and pearls and lace and dark hair and creamy skin stood out against the dreary room, there was no way I was taking just a headshot. I think I was more ooh-y and ahh-y than ever before behind my camera that evening. That red! Gah! The session was too brief…I’ve already requested a redo. <wink wink> Stay up to date on Angela’s writings on her Facebook page and her website and be sure to check out her book that’s set to release early 2014!
Waylon and Jennifer {mini}
The boy of many faces…that’s Waylon. I had so much fun getting to know Jennifer and her adorable little boy on this Saturday morning in my studio. They share a loving bond that needs no posing or prompting. I simply acted as their paparazzi that we happened to call a ‘session’ and below are the moments I captured.

Wes & Ava {mini}
Ava is no stranger to the photo-game. (and here) When I was asked to do a session with her and her daddy, I was thrilled. We met in my studio because the weather was downright nasty outside. One thing became apparent very quickly, Ava looooooves her dad.

Amber
It was reeeaally hard to choose only a few shots from this session to share. Can I get a YOW! This lovely lady asked me to do a boudoir session with her as a Christmas gift to her fiancé. Time melted away as we wandered around the house taking photos. The natural light loved this woman and her caramel, smooth skin. Let’s just say…her fiancé loved his gift.

Eliza {mini}
Every time I photograph Eliza, I’m pleasantly surprised by the growth of her personality. On this particular day, Eliza warmed up to me quicker than ever. *yesssss* At the end of our session her mom gave her a plate of chocolate chip cookies for the first time ever! Eliza wasted no time in taking one single bite out of each and returning them neatly to the plate. Ha! Kids do the cutest things!

Amanda
I first met Amanda at The Lady Jane during her First Friday exhibit. I walked in expecting wall art but was pleasantly surprised to see her little floral masterpieces. Arrangements that spruced up used food jars and donned a price tag labeled with a mere $5! The jars were modestly personalized with a ribbon or decorative string and each bouquet had a little birdie, a sparrow. Amanda owns a small floral business called Sparrow’s Floral Design and she has been keeping herself very busy lately. One look at her work and you’ll know why. I was thrilled when she asked me to do a session with her because she “just really needed some headshots” …nothing fancy. But after a few moments with her, the room softened. As the sun stretched it’s evening light, her personality poured out through laughter and all her awesome facial expressions, many of which, I have reserved just for her viewing pleasure. Ha! I really enjoyed my evening with Amanda and I look forward to working with her in the future!

Hughes Family {mini}
When Ashley asked me to do photos of her family for a second time, I was pumped! The first session was last spring and involved massive storm clouds and chickens. Now, here it is fall and her babes have grown so much! We met at the park for a mini-session filled with beautiful sunlight, homemade cookies and a warm blankie for Daddy. Haha! What fun these guys are!

The kids took off to play with their Dad so I grabbed Ashley for a few solo shots in the remaining sunlight. What a beauty she is!
