Yoder Family {mini}

What a pleasure it was to visit the home of Ashley, Josh and Leo. The land their house sits on is a photographic playground and we wasted no time before tromping through the tall grass to their old barns. It was a beautiful day to spend with beautiful people who are a true inspiration to me.bsomeIMG_8735 bsomeIMG_8743 bsomeIMG_8741c bsomeIMG_8755 bsomeIMG_8753bsomeIMG_8913bw bsomeIMG_8908bwbsomeIMG_8915bsomeIMG_8768c bsomeIMG_8763bw bsomeIMG_8791bw bsomeIMG_8792 bsomeIMG_8794 bsomeIMG_8786bsomeIMG_8798 bsomeIMG_8801bw bsomeIMG_8810bw bsomeIMG_8807 bsomeIMG_8814bsomeIMG_8824 bsomeIMG_8823bw bsomeIMG_8821bwbsomeIMG_8829bw bsomeIMG_8830bsomeIMG_8863 bsomeIMG_8840 bsomeIMG_8843 bsomeIMG_8854 bsomeIMG_8853bw bsomeIMG_8852bsomeIMG_8868 bsomeIMG_8865 bsomeIMG_8874bsomeIMG_8880 bsomeIMG_8892bw bsomeIMG_8896 bsomeIMG_8899bwbsomeIMG_8922bw bsomeIMG_8933 bsomeIMG_8929 bsomeIMG_8939bw

Lucas Family {mini}

Just because the Lucas Family owns and man-handles their own amazing coffee business, doesn’t mean they’re all jacked up on caffeine all the time. And just because you have a slight case of a.d.d. after hanging out with them for an afternoon, doesn’t mean the smell of bean juice oozing from their being gave you a coffee buzz. But…one might think this is the case. That’s because those Lucas’s are dang inspiring: building a life from the ground up, raising two amazing boys, maintaining a loving marriage, juggling priorities and taking the time out of all that to support this local photog and smile for some pic-chas! Support ’em back, go buy their coffee!bsomeIMG_8263 bsomeIMG_8260bw bsomeIMG_8262cbsomeIMG_8266bw bsomeIMG_8280bw bsomeIMG_8282bsomeIMG_8297 bsomeIMG_8289bwbsomeIMG_8308 bsomeIMG_8319 bsomeIMG_8321 bsomeIMG_8324bw bsomeIMG_8328bsomeIMG_8337bw bsomeIMG_8338 bsomeIMG_8339 bsomeIMG_8343 bsomeIMG_8346bw bsomeIMG_8340bwbsomeIMG_8399 bsomeIMG_8403 bsomeIMG_8366 bsomeIMG_8363 bsomeIMG_8380c bsomeIMG_8381c bsomeIMG_8377bsomeIMG_8258bw bsomeIMG_8393 bsomeIMG_8394bsomeIMG_8424bw bsomeIMG_8428bw bsomeIMG_8430 bsomeIMG_8432bwbsomeIMG_8465 bsomeIMG_8460bw bsomeIMG_8439

Flora-Parton Engagement

One side effect I typically have in the company of Lee and Jodi, is a sore face. Literally, my face aches after only a few short hours of laughter and prolonged smiling with these two. I expected nothing less from the day as I pulled up to Jodi’s childhood home in Roanoke, Va. The Blue Ridge Parkway was just a deep breath away and the grey skies hardly hinted of rain. It was perfect. Jodi and Lee were knee deep in a sea of clothes when I arrived and I entered with caution as to avoid the occasional airborne shirt, boot, and hot leather pants(!). We loaded up the car and headed to the Parkway for the first half of our shoot then on to downtown Roanoke. A lot of laughter and memories are documented below. Enjoy!

Troxell Family

I love a good excuse to visit Swannanoa Palace and the Troxell Family gave me just that. There we were – on the top of a mountain, at a quiet, empty mansion on a beautiful sunny day. It was almost surreal. This family made me laugh so much during this shoot that my face hurt. That’s my kind of family!

Brenda and Colonel

For Valentine’s Day Brenda’s husband gave her a surprise photo shoot with the love of her life…her horse, Colonel. I’m a little skittish around animals and that makes them skittish around me…and that makes me a giant woman-child. Seriously, it’s not pretty. When I saw this beast I shrunk in my boots. Horses are huge! Brenda laughed-I was nauseous with fear. I quickly relaxed, observing Brenda and Colonel’s very special relationship. He was calm and gentle to her touch. Brenda Colonel 12

Ludwig Family

Aaron and Patrice asked me to take photos of their family after I shot a few images  of their daughter at a mutual friend’s baby shower. “If you can get a good picture of Lucy then you must be good,” they told me. *glow* No pressure. Here are some shots from my afternoon with the Ludwig Family.

Bailey: Senior Session

When Bailey asked me to take her senior portraits I was all “Shyeah!” She is gorgeous, fun and has great style. I had nothing to lose. On the day of our shoot, Bailey informed me that I make a weird pirate face when shooting. Awesome. Thanks Bailey. (Arrrrgh!)

Danielle

There was enough snow on the ground to cancel work for the day.  Not quite enough to keep me nestled at home. I drove over to Danielle’s old apartment building where we ventured up to the top, abandoned floor and snapped some photos. It was eerie/fun/I don’t want to go back up there ever again.
