Justin and Amisha declared their vows in front of a postcard backdrop complete with Massanutten Mountain, every changing skies and lush greens in all directions. Family and friends gathered to witness the couple seal their love with a kiss and then dance the night away alongside their two sweet daughters. Among the many highlights of the day were the best man’s Fresh Prince of Bel-Air inspired speech, the double (double) chocolate chunk wedding cake, the secret handshake of the groom and his daughter, the post-ceremony mini-Dixie Cup champagne shot, copper flower centerpieces handmade by the bride’s dad, and the send off under a sea of glow sticks. Congrats Amisha and Justin and cheers to many years of happiness!

Sydney
From start to finish, Sydney, a senior at East Rock, set up her own senior session. She emailed me, we worked out location and scheduling, and she arrived at the Ice House solo…with a smile. My kind of gal – organized, independent, confident. Sydney is a beautiful young lady with thick copper locks worthy of envy. The time we spent together for her session melted away as we walked around Downtown Harrisonburg, chatting, laughing, whipping hair around and, of course, photographing.
Sydney & Alison
I love watching life from behind my camera: bellies growing plump with life, moms and dads getting outnumbered by children, little tiny humans growing into their own personalities. Year after year, it always amazes me. That’s why I love documenting people over and over again. I last met with these sweet sisters two years ago. I remember their session well because it was sandwiched between four other sessions that day and theirs was by far the most energetic. And by energetic I mean my face hurt from smiling, I had grass stains on my knees and I really needed a snack. This year’s session was no different. They brought the jokes and giggles and high fives and hugs…all the good-for-the-soul kind of things. It was wonderful to see Sydney & Alison again and witness their individuality coming to life.
Ellison Family {mini}
Not only did the world gain a precious child…but the family pup gained a baby sister. And now it is his sole duty to watch her every move and raise an ear to her every whimper. Delissa Ana, or Dela, was a quiet, sweet babe on the evening I met her. But I was not fooled…I could sense a depth of personality in those stare-a-hole-right-through-me eyes. This girl will do great things. Thanks for spending an evening of your life with me, Ashley & Mahan!

Wimer Family {mini}
I met with the Wimer’s one spring Saturday morning at the JMU Arboretum. Everything that had been bare just weeks before, was now lush and green and blooming all over the place! What a sweet gem of a spot we have here in Harrisonburg. Misty and her four guys were so much fun to work with! I’m excited to see more of this family in the future and watch as these three unique personalities develop into strong young men!
Lilly Wedding
After spending the day with Jr and Brittney for their engagement shoot, I was pretty pumped about their wedding day. These two are so much fun to be around: laid back, fun-loving, free spirits with a genuine care for their friends and family. When you’re with them, you feel loved…and sometimes your face hurts from laughing. Their special day all unfolded within a 4 mile wide pocket in Rockingham County. Hair and makeup was done at Brittney’s house; first look and group photos went down at Lake Shendandoah; ceremony and reception was held in Grandma Burner’s backyard (Brittney’s grandmother). With a day this personal, I left feeling like family…and filled with s’mores. Surely the best kind of feeling.

Amber
It was reeeaally hard to choose only a few shots from this session to share. Can I get a YOW! This lovely lady asked me to do a boudoir session with her as a Christmas gift to her fiancé. Time melted away as we wandered around the house taking photos. The natural light loved this woman and her caramel, smooth skin. Let’s just say…her fiancé loved his gift.
Roberts Family {mini}
The Roberts have the kind of love that’s contagious. Watching them interact with positive attitudes, genuine care and affection was inspiring. I left their session smiling on that cool crisp day. And those girls….future models! Ha! I’m just glad I got them in front of my lens before Hollywood finds them.
